For the energetic traveller there are numerous activities available at the Z Hotel. Zanzibar’s warm turquoise waters and stunning coral reefs offer the perfect haven for divers and deep sea fishing enthusiasts.
The Z Hotel recommends the most professional and fully equipped local Dive Centre, located close to the hotel, who’s very experienced and safety conscience team will reassure the novice and challenge the more experienced diver. Whether its snorkelling amongst the rich marine life that inhabit the coral reefs, or swimming with the Humpback whales during their migration the Z Hotel can assist you with all your diving needs.
Excursions to Stonetown and throughout Zanzibar are also available with a wealth of history waiting to be discovered. Much of this can be found in the Island’s capital, Stonetown. Guests wishing to explore more of the Island will find an array of excursions on offer including visits to Jozani Forest - home to the endangered Red Colobus Monkey, Spice Tours, Prison Island Excursion and Mnarani Turtle Sanctuary.

Deluxe Garden View
Situated on the ground and 1st floors, garden view rooms offer easy access to the pool and garden and just metres away from our steps down to the beautiful white beach. The balconies are perched just over our tropical garden so you will be in the perfect spot to experience the scents of the exotic flora and fauna just below.
Deluxe Sea View
1st and 2nd floor Deluxe Sea View Rooms offer uninterrupted, panoramic views taking in the West Coast of the Island out across the Indian Ocean and up to the Northern tip of Zanzibar. Natural light floods the room, while a wall of glass draws you to the wonderful view - the breathtaking view of the Zanzibari sunset from your balcony is an unforgettable memory.
Rooftop Suite
With 50 square metres of living space, two Roof top suites have been individually designed by the owners and encompass all the benefits offered in Deluxe Rooms but with additional features. As the name suggests, the suites perch on top of the building and enjoy double-height vaulted ceilings into the roof with exposed beams and amazing birds-eye views from the terrace. The Roof-Top Suites include 50 metres of living space and 40 metres of wrap-around terrace & balcony.
Z Suite
At 70 square metres, with beautiful décor, two terraces, and outdoor Jacuzzi, our Z Suite offers the last word in decadence. The suite is arranged across an entire rooftop and offers opulent features fitting for newly wedded couples or for those looking for the smartest room on Zanzibar. Everything about the space exudes luxury and individuality; all rooms have pull back doors, inviting the outside in… the problem is, you will never want to leave.
The Z suite includes 70 sq mtrs of living space and 45 sq metres of private terraces, jacuzzi and showers on terrace, italian cream leather sofas and Phillip Starck’ lighting & furniture.
Ocean front cottages
For extra privacy, our 2 Ocean Front Cottages are completely separate from the rest of the hotel’s accommodation. The living space is arranged over 2 floors with a ‘floating deck’ over the water which looks out directly across the Indian Ocean.
Both floors have complete pull back bi-folding doors, opening the cottages up to the outside welcoming in the soft warm sea breeze. You will never forget the sound of waves hitting the rocks below as you lay back and soak up the African sun.
Ocean Front Cottages include 60 metres of living space, expansive deck which ‘floats’ over the ocean, external showers, italian cream leather sofas, bespoke kitchenette and Phillip Starck’ lighting & furniture.

Saruche Restaurant
Z Hotel’s main restaurant, Saruche, offers a four course Table de Hote Menu of African-European fusion cuisine as well as a variety of fresh-from-the-ocean fish and seafood. We have created a sophisticated, yet relaxed atmosphere where you can sample some of the finest cuisine Zanzibar has to offer and taste fine wines from our international wine selection.
Other than sampling our delicious four course Table de Hote Menu, we do also offer themed buffet evenings on select nights. Ranging from the Seafood Fiesta to Traditional African style meals, all accompanied by live entertainment.
With stunning views across the ocean, Saruche restaurant rests on the edge of a small cliff where you can eat al fresco on a deck over the ocean with only the rippling tide to keep you company.
Cinnamon Cocktail Bar
Cinnamon is a vibrant, 1st floor, open bar where you can quench your thirst with an ice cold beer on a lazy, sun-baked afternoon or sample an aperitif from our extensive Champagne and cocktail menu.
Cinnamon is located on what is recognized as the best place on the Island to view the magnificent Zanzibari sunset, relax and enjoy the atmosphere…with a cocktail in hand of course! If you’re looking for something special, we can also section off areas of the bar for private parties or a more intimate evening.
The Cinnamon menu offers Asian fusion tapas and sharing platters, as well as simple classics like Fish & Chips, continental salads and Sushi.
